Alex De Young, Medical Gym Director

Meet Our Medical Gym Director

Hello! My name is Alex De Young, and I’m an Exercise Physiologist at the ARC Medical Gym. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Illinois State University and am a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). I am also an Advanced Oncology Exercise Specialist through CETI. I am passionate about helping individuals safely improve their strength, mobility, confidence, and overall quality of life through exercise. My experience includes working with orthopedic, neurological, weight management, oncology, and other special populations, allowing me to develop personalized exercise programs that meet each person’s unique needs and goals. At the ARC Medical Gym, our mission is to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and long-term wellness by providing safe, evidence-based exercise in a supportive environment. I look forward to helping you build confidence in your movement and discover how exercise can improve your health and everyday life.

Medical Memberships for Diabetes and Cardiac Fitness

Personal Training

  • We offer a variety of personal training packages. Before starting any training, we require an initial in-depth assessment and consultation of body composition, endurance, strength, flexibility, and mobility. This foundation protects each individual as they start exercising, allowing us to address any orthoepic needs first. No bumps in the road! We then discuss psychological barriers using screening to ensure patients are successful in their fitness journey. From here we set realistic goals together.

Saturday Flow Yoga

  • Participants will build strength and flexibility as well as improve balance and mindfulness. You should be able to get up and down from floor. Great for those with no yoga experience or getting back to yoga after an absence or injury.
  • Time:  9-10AM

Strength Training for Women Group Training

  • 8-week progressive programming done in a small group setting on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday’s 9-10AM. This evidence-based class is designed to improve bone health through targeted strength training, weight-bearing exercise, balance, posture, and flexibility. Whether you’re looking to maintain bone density, manage osteopenia or osteoporosis, or simply build lifelong strength, this program provides a safe and supportive environment to help you reach your goals. Surround yourself with other women who have the same healthy lifestyle goals; and have fun while reaching those goals! Class sizes are limited to 8 participants to ensure individualized instruction and proper exercise technique. Have a group interested in a different day or time?
